Tough situations reveal true character. And that was certainly the case for our founder, Tonny Goedmakers.
In 1943, in challenging times, he vowed to keep his friends and neighbours safe by starting a small cleaning business through which he could employ them. To guarantee its success, he knew they would need to deliver an exceptional service – one that delighted their customers. And they did.
In seeing his people grow and develop, take care of their families, and serve their community, Tonny realised just how meaningful a job could be. The beginnings of our unique Vebego spirit were born.
As the business grew, Tonny’s kitchen table became the heart of the operation. Here, where his immediate family shared their meals and discussed their lives, his extended family - colleagues, customers and suppliers alike - would drop by to talk business. Make plans. Solve problems. Celebrate victories. Seek comfort. And, in the process, build life-long friendships and partnerships.
That’s why, today, you’ll still find a kitchen table at the heart of all our offices, and kindness and consideration at the heart of all our actions. And while much has changed since 1943, the most important thing remains the same - our commitment to people:
This is who we are. What we’ve always done. And what we remain committed to.
Meaningful jobs. Great work. Better world.
